Cancer-related or treatment-related complications can sometimes lead to hospital admission. These situations can be very distressing and require the best technical assistance and human care.
If your clinical condition were to worsen, you were to experience side effects from your cancer treatment that you cannot resolve at home or you were to have the slightest concern about serious changes, do not hesitate to go to our Emergency Department. You will be received by a team that is qualified in dealing with medical emergencies who will apply the protocols and diagnostic techniques most suited to each situation. A trip to the emergency department is never pleasant for anybody. However, our doctors, nurses and auxiliaries will do everything they can to make your experience as pleasant as possible given the circumstances.

The doctors who look after you in the emergency department will be in contact with your oncologist and our team of doctors who will take care of you in the hospital if admission proves inevitable.

If you were to be admitted to hospital, you will be in an individual room with all the amenities you need to make your hospital stay as pleasant as possible within the limitations that we understand hospital admission can entail.

Our nursing and auxiliary staff have the experience needed to tackle any eventuality that could arise during your hospital stay. Furthermore, their human qualities and skills given their constant contact with cancer patients ensures that you will have a positive experience while you stay with us.

During your hospital stay, you will be seen by members from our team, specialists in Internal Medicine, who will be in contact with the oncologist that is treating you in the Outpatient Practice. The doctors who assist you during your hospital stay have vast experience in caring for cancer patients and constantly communicate with our medical oncology team. Depending on the clinical problem, the hospital team and oncologists will discuss and agree on the therapeutic strategies to follow so as to ensure that your hospital stay is as short as possible and incident free.

El Dr. Juan García Prieto, nació en Valencia en el año 1972, realizó sus estudios de Medicina y Cirugía en la Universidad de Valencia licenciándose en el año 1997. Realizó la Especialidad de Medicina de Familia y Comunitaria en el Hospital General de Albacete hasta el año 2003.

También realizó un Máster en Cuidados Paliativos y Abordaje clínico del dolor por la Universidad de Valladolid en el año 2008. Posee un Máster en Gestión Clínica por el Ceu San Pablo en el año 2017.

Desde el año 2003 enfoca su actividad laboral al mundo de la Medicina Paliativa y Cuidados a pacientes con enfermedades terminales. En el año 2007 y hasta la actualidad se incorporó a nuestro Equipo Médico de Oncología, dirigiendo la unidad de Hospitalización.
En el año 2006 empezó a formar parte de la Unidad de Hospitalización a Domicilio del Hospital General de Valencia y de la Unidad de Cuidados Continuos del Hospital Militar de Mislata, pasando en el año 2009 al Servicio de Urgencias del Hospital de Manises, siendo Jefe del Servicio en la actualidad.

Tiene una importante experiencia en el cuidado y enfoque inicial de Pacientes con patología Oncológica y Urgencias Oncológicas, impartiendo diversas charlas de formación sobre Urgencias Oncológicas y Cuidados del Paciente terminal.

Es miembro de la Sociedad Española y Valenciana de Medicina Paliativa.
